If you’re talking about quality produce, homegrown, locally sourced, and wholly fair, think Applegarth Farm. A farm shop restaurant for Mediterranean bistro food by day and a fine dining menu on Thursday to Saturday nights. For over 45 years, Applegarth has been growing, farming, producing, and selling food from the family’s farmland on the Surrey Hampshire borders of Grayshott.
Food is the heartbeat of Applegarth. Fresh, local, and homegrown produce, provides a plethora of exciting flavour combinations for their menus. Thanks to their longstanding relationships with many reputable local suppliers, their customers can also enjoy a wide range of artisan produce. Whether you are visiting their restaurant or farm shop, cookery school, shopping online, or ordering a takeaway, you can rest assured that they have gone the extra mile to make sure the experience is safe and enjoyable.
When John and Stephanie Benson purchased a piece of land in Grayshott in 1976 to start growing a range of soft fruit and vegetables, little did they know they were starting a new business community there. Today Applegarth employs about 32 people and has a thriving Restaurant and Farm Shop selling a whole raft of locally sourced, unique products. By remaining true to their roots, they help break the mould of faceless high street shopping by providing a personal and unique location. Still, a family-run business headed by William Benson, Applegarth has been granted permission with its bold plans to expand upon its existing facilities with www.applegarthspotential.biz.
When we met Will at the restaurant last month, he talks about the welfare of his staff as very important. He recently installed an impressive relaxation facility within the location that includes a sauna and, as part of a welfare package, he agreed to sign a contract with Consultdoc to provide an independent telemedicine service for all members of his staff. This now enables all staff members to have quick direct access to an online independent GP when needed. A wise decision during the pandemic and one that not only benefits Will’s employees but also helps relieve the unprecedented pressure on our National Health Service. With this agreement, their staff will be able to register and book an appointment here at a discounted price.
